Curriculum Areas

In our quest to improve further, we have spent the past two years developing our curriculum. We have developed the content, interest, leadership, organisation, teaching, assessment, progression in skills and resources of the curriculum here at Weston.

Skills & Knowledge

We believe that it is essential that children receive a broad and balanced curriculum which will not only enhance their knowledge and understanding of the world, but also provide them with the skills and characteristics needed for a successful future. To ensure progression in skills and knowledge, we have developed a set of curriculum aims and objectives for each year group which can be found below.

Cross Curricular Approach

At Weston, we encourage our staff to use a text-led, cross-curricular approach wherever possible so children can apply their learning to other subject areas, make connections and enhance their vocabulary.

Head to the the class pages and you will find a detailed overview for each topic which will explain in more detail how the topic links to the different areas of the curriculum.

Leadership

Subject leaders carefully monitor and evaluate their subject areas and identify strengths and areas to develop through precise action plans. Core subjects are monitored and evaluated regularly to ensure the children are receiving high quality teaching and making good progress. A three year monitoring cycle of foundation subjects, including Science, can be found below.

More information about each subject area can be found on the tabs of this page.
