St John the Evangelist

Here at Weston, we have strong links to our local church, St John the Evangelist in Weston village. The school regularly go to services at the school for Christmas, Easter and a leavers celebration in the summer.

Along with visits to the church, Jenny and other members of the church regularly come into school to support teaching the RE curriculum when appropriate. Recently Jenny came to see our year 4 class to talk about how and why Christians use the Bible.

Kindness Assembly 2025

In November we welcomed Rev’d. Karen Andrews and Jenny Owen from St John the Evangelist Church, Weston to lead a Kindness Assembly. We learnt that friendship is like a hand of bananas - bright and cheerful in colours like we feel when we are with friends, shaped like a smile which makes everyone feel better. And, just like us, they grow in different sizes and numbers just as we grow differently together. Most importantly, bananas are full of goodness which makes us healthy and feel good - just like positive friendships do!

Harvest Assembly and Runcorn Foodbank 2025

The Harvest Festival is a celebration held to give thanks for a successful harvest and the food that has been gathered from the land. It is one of the oldest known festivals and is observed in many cultures around the world, often in autumn when crops are harvested.

In the UK, it is traditionally celebrated in churches and schools, where people bring in produce to donate to those in need.
